How to Keep Flies Out of Your House?
Whether you’re hosting a backyard party or simply enjoying some time indoors with your family, houseflies and fruit flies can be a real nuisance. Besides being a nuisance, houseflies can also transmit diseases.
This is because they can pick up bacteria and other disease-causing microbes in some of their favorite places to feed and breed, such as garbage, feces, and dead animals.
Wherever flies land, they transfer these contaminants through their bodies or their vomit or feces. Understanding more about flies and how to control them can help protect your family and make your time at home more enjoyable.
Take measures against flies

Fruit fly vs. Housefly vs. Drain fly
To keep flies under control, get rid of waste immediately, secure the area, and keep things clean and in good condition.
While it may be difficult to completely get rid of flies near your home, there are many things you can do to keep these buzzing pests under control. Eliminating areas where flies are known to breed, both inside and outside your home, is the best option. Additionally, preventing them from accessing food sources can help reduce the number of flies inside your home.
We take in the flies so you don’t have to.
At the Institute of Insect Science for Family Health, we study thousands of houseflies every day. We breed them, research them, and invent new ways to help you control them and keep them out of your home.
Secure the place
The best way to keep flies out of your home is to prevent them from entering. Keep doors closed, windows sealed, and window screens in good condition. It’s a good idea to seal any cracks near doors or windows and ensure flies can’t enter through holes or vents. Secure the exterior and keep it free of debris, recyclables, and excess moisture.
Pick up your pet’s feces
If you have a pet, be sure to clean up its feces immediately. Flies are more attracted to droppings that are more than a day old, so disposing of them quickly gives them one less place to lay eggs.
Pay special attention to the drains
Indoor drains, with their damp and dirty environments, are prime breeding grounds for small flies and fly larvae. Prevent drain flies and larvae by keeping your drains clear and proactively cleaning and scrubbing them before a problem arises.
