Today I want to show you how to prepare green beans so they become one of your favorite dishes.

With a vibrant green color, a slightly creamy coating, and a unique cut, your green beans will never be the same again with this recipe. It’s ideal as an appetizer or side dish.

How to Cook Fresh Green Beans?

We’re not going to deny the importance of classic green beans with potatoes, which benefit greatly from a touch of meat, tuna, or paprika.

The same goes for green beans with tomato or green beans cooked using different methods. Still, this version takes simplicity and turns it into something truly special.

After trying them at Las Tortillas de Gabino and later at Fismuler, I decided to ask Nino Redruello, the chef behind both restaurants, for his recipe.

Today, I’m sharing it with you so you can finally enjoy simple green beans elevated to the highest level.

Steps

  1. Wash and cut the green beans, carrot, and potato, making sure the vegetables are previously peeled.
  2. Place all the vegetables in a saucepan with water and salt. Cook until tender; you can check by piercing them with a fork.
  3. Chop the onion into very small squares and sauté it slowly in a pan with olive oil over low heat.
  4. Once the vegetables are cooked, add them to the pan with the onion and sauté everything together over low heat for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and serve.

  • If you don’t have fresh green beans, you can easily use canned or frozen beans from your pantry.
  • To add extra flavor, include Serrano ham. Add it while sautéing the onion, then continue with the recipe as written.
